Retired from Matador Production Company in July 2017 after 28 years working for public, independent, and service companies, Trent returned to consulting and academia. Following the merger of Harvey E. Yates Company (HEYCO) with Matador Production Company in February 2015, Trent was appointed Vice President of Production and Facilities for Matador.
Trent joined Harvey E. Yates Company (HEYCO) in July 2012 as the Chief Operating Officer. His primary focus was to improve, streamline and ultimately grow the company, specifically its domestic Delaware Basin operations in southeast New Mexico, which is part of the Permian Basin.
From 2007 to 2012, Trent expanded and managed a new corporate division and developed a Piceance Basin natural gas field for Bass Enterprises Production Company (BOPCO). Prior to BOPCO, Trent was the manager of Pinnacle Technologies Rocky Mountain Region based in Denver, Colorado. Trent was the developer of Pinnacle’s PermPT permeability testing procedures. PermPT is a method of testing for permeability in low energy, low permeability reservoirs such as coal, shale, and tight gas sands.
Prior to Pinnacle Technologies, Trent managed his own company, PERM, LLC doing a multitude of worldwide projects. Before forming his own company, Trent was the Denver area manager for S.A. Holditch & Associates after a 7-year period of employment with Amerada Hess Corporation. Trent holds a B.S. degree in Petroleum Engineering from Montana Tech in Butte, Montana and an MBA from the University of Denver. Trent is a member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers and was active in the local Denver Section SPE Board of Directors. Trent has authored and co-authored several papers as well as articles in various industry periodicals on the topics of production enhancement and optimization. Trent lectured extensively on hydraulic fracturing, NODAL Analysis, well testing, production operations, decline curve analysis, and various other topics for NExT, LLC, an industry training company.
