Symptoms
Microsoft has confirmed by way of a Windows Support advisory that Apple Mac users have been blocked from updating to Windows 10 version 1903. According to the Windows Latest site the support page.
If you are trying to update to the May 2019 Feature Update for Windows 10 (Windows 10, version 1903), you may experience an update compatibility hold and receive the message, 'Mac HAL Driver - machaldriver.sys: Your PC has a driver or service that isn't ready for this version of Windows 10.'
Cause
Mac devices prior to 2012 or newer Mac devices with the older Apple Boot Camp or Windows Support Software drivers have a compatibilty hold in place and are unable to update to Windows 10, version 1903. Specifically, devices with MacHALDriver.sys dated September 24, 2011 01:57:09 or older in Windowssystem32drivers are affected.
Workaround
- Start up your Mac in Windows. From File Explorer, open the USB flash drive, then open Setup or setup.exe, which is in the WindowsSupport folder or BootCamp folder. When you're asked to allow Boot Camp to make changes to your device, click Yes. Click Repair to begin installation.

- Download Windows 10 ISO File Using A Mac. Head over to this link using Safari. Scroll down to the 'Select edition' section and select the edition of Windows 10 you wish to download.
- To install Windows 10 on a Mac, you will need the following: The Mac you plan to install Windows 10 on A thumb drive with at least 5GB of storage space (for reference, I named mine 'WININSTALL') A.
Updating your Apple Boot Camp Windows Support Software drivers may allow you to update to Windows 10, version 1903. For instructions, please see the Apple support article here.

Install the client
To get started, download and install the client on your macOS device.
Subscribe to a feed
Subscribe to the feed your admin gave you to get the list of managed resources available to you on your macOS device.
Windows 10 For Mac Student
To subscribe to a feed:
- Select Add Workspace on the main page to connect to the service and retrieve your resources.
- Enter the Feed URL. This can be a URL or email address:
- If you use a URL, use the one your admin gave you. Normally, the URL is https://rdweb.wvd.microsoft.com/api/arm/feeddiscovery.
- To use email, enter your email address. This tells the client to search for a URL associated with your email address if your admin configured the server that way.
- To connect through the US Gov portal, use https://rdweb.wvd.azure.us/api/arm/feeddiscovery.
- Select Add.
- Sign in with your user account when prompted.
After you've signed in, you should see a list of available resources.
Once you've subscribed to a feed, the feed's content will update automatically on a regular basis. Resources may be added, changed, or removed based on changes made by your administrator.
